Emersyn is 2!

Our baby is no longer a baby (officially).  I am kind of happy that she is a little thing, because she is still very easy to hold, very easy to snuggle with, and well...even though she is 2, she is still our baby.  It's so different the second time around.  With Maddie, we were always looking to the next stage, the next milestone.  We expected a lot out of her as a 2 year-old and we were probably very unrealistic in our expectations.  With Emersyn, we are always explaining to Maddie that "Emmie is little" and that is why she doesn't clean up or listen as well.  And it's not the we aren't happy to see her grow and hit the milestones, but seeing how fast Maddie is growing up makes me wish for her to just stay a little a little while longer.  And she is so darn sweet.  She is fiesty at times, but when she starts acting like a 2 year-old, she actually listens to a little bit of reason and then stops crying, sucks her thumb, rubs her belly, and says, "oook" with a pouty face.  No pouty faces on her birthday though.  Here's our happy 2 year-old Emmie!

Hoedown Throwdown

While Chris and I were drinking some tropical drinks on the beach in the Bahamas, we came up with the idea of having a big party.  We have never really had a big party and thought Emmie's birthday was a good excuse.  We called it the Hoedown Throwdown and it turned out great.  The weather cooperated, thank God!  The kids had a blast on the waterslide and it was fun having all our neighbors, friends and family here.

Celebrating A Great Year in Kindergarten

Maddie had her end-of-year party at school and I took the afternoon off to spend some one-on-one time with her.  She had a wonderful year with all positive comments from her teacher.  She only got one "yellow" which was a warning and never got a "red".  So we celebrated!  We went to the American Girl Doll store and cafe for the first time.  It was adorable and I think I had as much fun as Maddie did.  We got Rebecca's hair done and had lunch.  I loved spending quality time with my girl!
